Offset and Quavo paid tribute to their late Migos bandmate TakeOff on Wednesday (Nov. 1) on the first anniversary of the rapper’s fatal shooting at a Houston bowling alley. “Can’t forget it won’t Forget it NEVER Forget it [rocket, infinity emoji] Remember!” Quavo wrote in an Instagram post featuring a photo of his nephew.

Offset also got emotional about marking a year since the loss of his rap partner. “The times we spent is priceless what we built in this game they never wanted to give us our flowers we influenced the world…I Love you Take you still here with us I just know you are!!!! Migo 4Life!!!!!!,” he wrote along with a video of the Migos in happier times set to Dripset’s 2019 track “Last Memory.”

TakeOff (born Kirshnik Khari Ball), 28, was shot and killed early in the morning on Nov. 1, 2022 while attending a private party with Quavo at 810 Billiards & Bowling in downtown Houston. Investigators said shots rang out during the an afterparty attended by several dozen people, with TakeOff pronounced dead at the scene of what the Harris County coroner’s office said was “penetrating gunshot wounds of head and torso into arm.”

In the wake of the shooting, Quavo has stepped up to advocate against gun violence, meeting privately with some powerful political figures — including Vice President Kamala Harris — in September and speaking on a panel about combatting the issue during the Congressional Black Caucus legislative conference in Washington. “We need to do better with the control of guns,” Quavo said at the time. “We need to figure out how do we keep these types of incidents from happening to people going anywhere and thinking they can hurt somebody where it shouldn’t happen.”

A Texas grand jury indicted TakeOff’s alleged shooter, Patrick Xavier Clark, on murder charges in May; another man allegedly involved in the incident. Cameron Joshua, 22, was arrested and charged with the unlawful carrying of a weapon.
